Hi all

I would like to reintroduce myself. I am BScAgr, MScAgr (Horticulture) and studied further 5 years towards a degree of PHD which never ended. I have also a degree in Law (LLB) and I am a practising lawyer for the past 18 years.
As an agronomist I specialized in the past 35 years with exotic rare fruits from all over the world - almost.

I travelled to many countries and watched and assisted in many agric projects in the following countries: Israel, South Africa, Cieskie, Lasutho, Kenya, Ethiopia, England, Netherlands, Cyprus, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Philippines, Japan, Hawaii, California, North Mexico, Florida, Guerensey, may be a few more.

In Israel I have 2 small farms where I conduct my observations and keep my collections all by my own work and a little old tractor.

I am now 61 years old. (My grandparents came from Rumania to Palestine in 1933 as agric workers and my love to farming originated from Rumania).

The Goji - like the Kiwifruit - like so many new fruits - are defined as exotics.

In any exotic agric project - there must be growing aside on a small scale -additional exotic crops as an alternative or as an addition to the main produce sold.

In the case of the Goji - I amy suggest berry fruits both old and new.

The basic questions in growing new berries are similar as with he Goji.

At this point I selected but 2 out of hundreds of possible berry species to try and grow beside the Goji plot (on a small scale) as these may show some future promise and similar chalenges.

Suggestion no 1: Lonicera edulis.
The following varieties were developed at the University of Saskatchewan (in short: U. of S) Borealis, Tundra, Indigo Gem(9-15), Indigo Treat (9-91) and Indigo Yum (9-92) and two from One Green World Nursery in Oregon, Berry Smart Blue and Berry Smart Belle

There is plenty to read about from articles of professor Bob Bros
www.usask.ca/agriculture/dom_fruit/index.html

Suggestion no 2: Aronia melanocarpa
There is a lot to learn from various links and web sites such as:
https://nationalaroniacouncil.wordpress.com/research/

These are but 2 berries out of many that face similar medicinal-juicy, propagation-marketing issues as the Goji
