Commercial aspects of air-layering Goji

Hi all
The basics of airlayering were discussed here in this website.
There are lots of literature, diagrams, U-tubes and materials used in airlayering - easily accessed by google.

A few of the disadvantages (not all) of this technique related to Goji are:
it is time consuming,
a need for prior preparations of materials and plants,
a need for another helper/worker
the right branches on the mother plant simply is not there - ready.
not all the plant material is uniform in thickness and age
hardening of the cut airlayers needs some expertise and preparations

On the other hand you get fruiting plants in the first year, you can Bonsai the Goji and sell it fruiting in pots and have extra income.
This idea of having small mature plants, ready to fruit in the first year means that if potted mature airlayered Gojis are grown in a hot house-tunnel-greenhouse you can have early crop. May I explain that when you place the airlayered Gogi pots on a table with bottom heat, the roots develop faster in spring, flower buds appear and you get an early fresh crop for sale or as a gift fruiting pot.

I suggest to all Goji growers to learn this technique and each one will adapt his tools, materials and timing. Spring is the right time to start experimenting if you have the right mature thick plant material

Scientifically - airlayering helps in preserving mutations and varieties that may vanish.
